UK Good Practice Guide
As a result of a significant increase in metal theft in early 2007 a metal theft problem profile was published in 2008 and distributed to all Police Forces nationally. The UK problem profile was updated in May 2010.
In conjunction with the update, British Transport Police published a Metal Theft Good Practice Guide in early 2008 which was then updated in August 2010. The good practice guide includes additional guidance on metal theft prevention, intelligence and enforcement plans.
