The Pol-PRIMETT 9th EUG meeting was held on Wednesday 5th June 2013 at the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, 1 Carlton House Terrace, London, UK. Please click here to view the programme.

The conference was opened by Project Director David Ransom who provided an overview of project aims, objectives and activities before introducing Cristina Checchinato from Europol.

Cristina described how Europol is encouraging transnational collaboration amongst law enforcement agencies and the private sector across the EU and provides results from the recent Europe-wide day of action. Please click here to view Cristina's presentation.

Major General Rui Moura from the Guarda Nacional Republicana provided five case studies on the successful metal theft operations they have been conducting in Portugal. Please click here to view Rui's presentation.

Pol-PRIMETT's Italian partner Agenfor Lombardia has been conducting research on metal theft across Europe since the project began in 2010. Sergio Bianchi discussed the findings from the research and the information gaps that had been identified. These gaps will be explored in the follow on project - Pol-PRIMETT II. Ross Bartley from the Bureau of International Recycling provided the recycling indutsry's perspective on metal theft and detailed the effective and ineffective legislation changes to tackle metal theft. Please click here to view Ross' presentation.

As the Pol-PRIMETT project is due to finish on the 7th September 2013, David Ransom discussed the legacy the project leaves behind before handing over to Steve Welsh, Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) to introduce the follow on project - Pol-PRIMETT II.
