EUG 6 Germany

The sixth Pol-PRIMETT II EUG meeting was held on Wednesday 15th July 2015 at the Scandic Hotel, Berlin, Germany.

The meeting was attended by over 60 delegates from with many EU Member States being represented.

Steve Welsh, Pol-PRIMETT II's Project Director from the National Crime Agency (NCA) opened the meeting by introducing Professor Gerd Neubeck, Cheif Security Officer of Deutche Bahn AG. (Click here soon)

This was followed by opening address by Erich Schmis, Head of Crises Management Taskforce, Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure. (Click here soon)

The main event begun with a presentation on the ‘Wider impact of Metal Theft’ by Matthew Ashby (Click here soon)

Then Christian Thiele, Europol, and Manfred Günther, German Feredal Police spoke about the police perspective. (Click here soon)

This was followed by Ralf Schmitz, from the Association of German Metal Traders discussing the issue from the metal traders’ perspective. (Click here soon)

Next came Dr. Stefan Röhrbein, of German Security Partnership Against Metal Theft introducing SIPAM. (Click here soon)

Before lunch Piotr Konczarek, Polish Public Private Partnership to Fight Against the Devastation of National Infrastructure, introduced Memorandum. (Click here soon)

After lunch Alena Havlova, CER presented Position Paper - European Coalition Against Metal Theft – State of Play. (Click here soon)

The delegates were then split into two workshops:

  • Workshop 1 - Discussion on organized crime dimension, moderated by Christian Thiele, Europol & Steve Welsh, NCA
  • Workshop 2 - Discussion on wider impact of metal theft, moderated by Matthew Ashby, Pol PRIMETT II

Lastly there was the panel discussion: Presentation and discussion of the workshop by Ralf Schmitz, Steve Welsh, Kufeld, Stefan Röhrbein, Christian Thiele, and Franz-Xaver Vogl. Topics included ‘cashless’ legislation and prevention approaches  (Links to follow...)
