EUG 4 Bulgaria

The fourth Pol-PRIMETT II EUG meeting was held on Tuesday 10th March 2015 at the Arena di Serdika Hotel, Sofia, Bulgaria.

The meeting was attended by 81 delegates from 9 EU Member States.

Steve Welsh, Pol-PRIMETT II's Project Director from the National Crime Agency (NCA) opened the meeting.

This was followed by a first set of presentations by:

An exposition on innovative products supporting the prevention of metal theft was given followed by a second set of presentations by:

  • Dr, Eng, Emil Michailov, Dean, Faculty of Metallurgy and Material science, University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy-Sofia on New Technologies in resource supplying to the circular industry 2020. (Click here)
  • Politimy Paunova, Director of the Bulgarian Association of Metallurgical Industry on Foreigh trade turnover of metal wastes and their use in the Metallurgical industry of Bulgaria. (Click here)
  • Mihail Asenov, Environmentalist, International consultant. Forms, Authorities and practices of ecological monitoring and control over metal scrap sites in Member states. (Click here)

The delegates were then split into two workshops:

  • Workshop 1 - Collating and mapping data to create a picture of metal theft across Europe.
  • Workshop 2 - Public private partnership and academic cooperation/innovation.
